You may obtain a marriage license in any county in Arizona, as long as your wedding will take place in Arizona.
COST $76.00 (subject to change). Call the office nearest you for their preferred method of payment – which may range from cash, money orders, bank guarantee card or credit card, with proper identification. If you are purchasing your license at Justice Courts, only money orders are accepted. Certified copies of a marriage license are $27.50 (subject to change), would recommend purchasing at least two of these to have for changing your name.
REQUIREMENTS
1). Both the parties must be present to apply and obtain a marriage license.
2). No blood test is required.
3). Each individual will be required to provide a government issued photo I.D., such as a driver’s license or passport to show proof of age and confirm identity.
4). If you are under the age of 18, you must either have a notarized parental Clerk’s Office consent form or have your parent(s)Â accompany you, present the proper identification, and sign the parental consent form in front of the clerk issuing your license.
5). If you are age 16-17, a certified copy of your birth certificate and one of the following government issued picture I.D.’s is required: a) current driver’s license; b) state or military I.D. card; c) current passport; d) or other government issued picture I.D. A parent with sole custody or a legal guardian must also present court documentation stating that fact.
6). If you are age 15 or under, you must also have a court order. To obtain a court order you must contact Conciliation Court at 602.506.3296.
7). If you are in the process of getting a divorce, by Arizona law, you may apply for a license, even if the divorce is not final. To be legally married, the divorce must be final and secured in the state where it was granted.
WAITING PERIOD & EXPIRATION OF LICENSE
1). A marriage license must be issued prior to the ceremony taking place, signed at completion of the ceremony, and returned by the officiator not more than 30 days after the ceremony has taken place in order for the license to be recorded.
2). Â No waiting period, you will receive your marriage license and may be married on the same day you apply for it.
3). Any unused marriage license expires one year from the date of purchase.
