Memorial Day 2013

Memorial Day 2013

Hope you and your family have a safe and happy Memorial Day weekend!

It has been hard to watch the disruptive events of the bombing in Boston and the tornadoes in Oklahoma.  Please pray for those people and their families, as well as so many other events which have affected us as a nation.

Memorial Day is a great time to pause and reflect and take a personal inventory on how fortunate we are to live in the USA.  We live in a FREE country thanks to the brave men and women who have served our country, have gave everything (those who have served in past, present and future) to help keep us SAFE and to be FREE!

Life holds many challenges, choices, and paths, yet together we always overcome with the strength of a nation.  USA STRONG!!!

Pay it forward today by allowing the person on the freeway to get in front of you, let the person with a few items get in front of you in line at the grocery store, say thanks and “I love you” to your family and closest friends.

As the starfish story (many of you have heard it from me), it only takes one person and one good act or intention to make a difference in a better way.  Together, we can do it!

Happy 4th of July!

Hope your 4th of July is a BLAST!

Are you getting married on the 4th of July, or a holiday weekend?  Know in AZ it will be HOT, so drink plenty of water, have umbrellas/parasols/individual fans for each guest if they will be outside for any part of your wedding.  Holidays may lead to overbooked flights, crowded airports, and delayed luggage.  Have your wedding party and family plan ahead when booking their flights, and don’t take the last flight of the day, since if there are cancellations earlier that day, their flight may be delayed, and they may miss the wedding!

Be thankful we live in America, land of opportunity!

God bless the USA!

Whatever you do today, with your family and friends celebrate YOU and everything you are!

FUN 4th of July Facts:
– Many of us cookout to celebrate the 4th of July!
– Favorite traditional foods are ribs, hamburgers, hot dogs, salads, potato salad, chips and watermelon.
– There’s a 1-in- 6 chance the beef on your grill came from Texas, the leader in production of cattle and calves.
– The chicken on your grill probably came from Georgia, Arkansas, Alabama, North Carolina, or Mississippi.
– The lettuce in your salad or on your hamburger was probably grown in California, which accounts for 3/4 of the USA lettuce production.
– Fresh tomatoes in your salad most likely came from Florida or California, which, combined, produced more than 2/3 of the US tomatoes.
– The ketchup on your hamburger or hot dog probably came from California, which accounted for 95% of the processed tomato production last year.
– The potato salad or potato chips or fries are probably from Idaho or Washington, which produces about 1/2 of the nation’s spuds.
– Favorite dessert on the 4th is watermelon. Arizona, California, Florida, Texas, Indiana, and Georgia combined to produce about 80% of watermelons last year.

Happy New Year!!!

Have you made your New Year’s resolution yet?

 Maybe you “don’t do resolutions”…

Stop procrastinating, and DO NOW what you have put off for “tomorrow”!

Whatever your choice, have an incredible 2010!!!

Here are some ideas for you…

* Fill in your own resolution…make a difference in your life and someone else’s life (lives) today!!!

  * Reduce stress – too much can take its toll both mentally and physically – do something for you!

* Golden rule – treat others the way that you would like to be treated – karma, my friend!

* Exercise/lose weight/eat healthier – over 66% of Americans are considered overweight or obese.  Regular exercise is associated with more health benefits than anything else!  Change your diet since you are what you eat

* Get organized – clean off your desk, recycle, purge, and declutter your life!

* Enjoy life more – (you fill in your own blanks – what is it that will make YOU happier?)

* Help others – volunteer to help at your church/temple, local schools, and/or a charity, shelter, or an organization you believe in – it is in giving that we truly receive!

* Simplify – simple living is a lifestyle characterized by minimizing – recycle, ask “do you really need that”…

* Learn something new or make a commitment to do that “one thing” you always wanted to – have you vowed to learn a new language or expand your education to take it “up a level or two”?

* Get out of debt – join the millions of Americans who have resolved to spend this (more…)
