Tips on Choosing a Videographer

Many brides cut video from their budget, but it provides you with two key elements which you may miss the day of your wedding -- motion and sound of everything around you!

Do you have your mom/dad/grandmother/grandfather's voice recorded anywhere with their smile and phrases they always say? This is the perfect time to do it since everyone looks their best, and they are all in one place on one day!!

Why not record a message to your groom to give him on a DVD on your wedding day of how much he "wowed you when you met him, and how much you are looking forward to being Mrs. ______!"

When choosing a videographer, make sure you are an informed buyer:
  1. Preview their work -- view samples on their web site or a DVD. Check for a steady camera(s), proper lighting, sharp images, and sound -- see if the music is clear and the voices are audible.
  2. Who will be editing your video, and who will be there on the wedding day to shoot the video -- highly recommended to get the names of these people in writing.
  3. How many DVDs do you get included in your price?
  4. How many hours is your coverage, and how many cameras will be "manned" vs. "unmanned"?
  5. Are there smooth transitions between scenes?
  6. Do they have a package which includes your wedding rehearsal, wedding rehearsal dinner, and any pre or post parties?
  7. Find out their payment, refund, cancellation, and change of date policy.
  8. Find out what is included in their packages for the price you are paying, and have them put any extras you want in writing with the price points.
  9. Get delivery times of when you should expect to receive the final edited DVD in your contract.
